1/2 a year has gone by...

Yesterday was Brady's 6 month birthday! Some people say "time flies!" and I agree in some aspects of that exclamation. However, these past six months have felt like SIX MONTHS! Perhaps it is because, like I said on FB, I have been awake for most of it. I am sure that come next year at this time, I will say to myself,"where has the time gone?"...but not feeling that way quite yet!

Now, according to Medline Plus from the U.S. National Library of Medicine, (thanks Alexa) these are some of the develpomental milestones for a 6 month old. Lets see if Brady is meeting them...

Physical:

Able to hold almost all weight when supported in a standing position ~ check!
Able to transfer objects from one hand to the other ~ check!
Able to lift chest and head while on stomach ~ check!
Able to pick up a dropped object ~ check!
Able to roll from back to stomach ~ check!
Beginning of teething ~ still just the two, but check!
Increased drooling ~ oh yeah, check!
Should be able to sleep 6-8 hour stretches at night ~ we're getting there...no check
Should have doubled in birth weight (no cause for concern if it hasn't happened yet) ~ at birth he was 9 lbs, 11 oz...and last week at the doc's office he was 16 lbs, 12 oz.

Sensory and cognitive markers:

Begins to fear strangers ~ not yet
Begins to imitate actions ~ haven't noticed that one
Begins to notice that if an object is dropped, it is still there and just needs picked up ~ check!
Can locate sounds not made directly at ear level ~ check!
Recognizes parents ~ check!

As for solid foods, we tried his first jar of carrots yesterday as a birthday treat....um, yeah I think the picture shows how much he enjoyed it. We'll keep trying......

  1. Since I am technically a stranger to him, let's hope that he doesn't start to fear strangers until he sees me!
